Inleiding

Wij hebben 6 april een bezoek gebracht met de hele 3^de klas in het scheldetheater aan de dansvoorstelling Venus van de dansgroep AYA. De voorstelling heeft als thema de vrouwelijke kracht en echte vrouwelijke zaken. De voorstelling AYA beschikt over de zeven danserressen (Kathrin Gramelsberger, Gwen Langenberg, Mouna Laroussi, Lisette Oord, Suzanne Ris, Tamar Shahinian en Anne Suurendonk) en een mannelijke danser (Lucien Denny). De choreograaf heet Wies Bloemen.

Inhoud

Thema

Het thema van de opvoering die centraal staat is de kracht van de vrouw en de typisch vrouwelijke zaken. De zeven vrouwelijke danseressen praten over de menstruatie en over seksuele interactie. Ze schetsen in hun dans hoe een vrouw een baby baart en stoten oerkreten uit om hun energie te tonen.

Visie

De visie en het doel van de choreografe is dat vrouwen niet minder zouden zijn dan mannen.

Abstrahering

De voorstelling is misschien wat betreft de werkelijkheid wat overdreven. De voorstelling is redelijk abstract, echt heel verhalend is het niet. Ik vind de sfeer ook niet heel erg vrolijk, maar in de loop van de voorstelling wordt de sfeer een beetje vrolijker.

Vorm

Dansers

AYA heeft 8 dansers, waaronder 7 vrouwelijke dansers, en 1 mannelijke danser. Het waren allemaal dansers van gemiddelde leeftijd, tussen de 40 en de 20 jaar oud. De dansstijlen verschillen heel erg in het optreden, de ene dans was redelijk heftig, de volgende was weer een stuk minder energiek. Vaak dansten ze samen, maar soms ook solo. De solo’s waren vaal niet al te lang, maar de één had meer solo dan de ander.

Danssoort

De dans was zowel expressionistische als modern als een musicaldans.

Manier van bewegen

De danser gebruikten hun lichaam in een felle, vurige en stotige beweging om hun kracht en energie te uiten. Bij een bepaalde dans gingen ze ook de hele tijd heen en weer rennen. Er zit alleen niet echt een vast patroon in het dansen. Iedere dans is anders, dus je weet niet van tevoren wat er gebeuren gaat.

Interactie

Voor het grootste deel van de tijd dansten ze in groepen en af en toe ook in duetten. Heel soms, deden ze ook een solo. Als ze samen werkten of in een duet waren, was het op het begin een wat gespannen sfeer, ze stonden fel tegenover elkaar. Maar gedurende de voorstelling veranderde dat en gingen ze als een harmonie dansen. Als ze solo dansten, dan lieten ze hun kracht als individu zien.

Danselementen

De muziek draagt een deel bij aan de sfeer en de spanning. Als er een rustige dans was, dan was er ook een rustige muziek. De laatste dans was erg energiek, dus de muziek was ook erg aanwezig. De dansers maakte erg duidelijke en overdreven bewegingen. Niet alleen om te laten zien dat de vrouw ook veel kracht bezit, maar omdat de achterste rijen de bewegingen ook zouden zien. De dansers gebruiken het hele podium voor hun opvoering.

Muziek

Zoals ik in het vorige stukje had gezegd, droeg de muziek een groot deel bij aan de spanning. In het begin was de muziek vrij zacht net als de dans, maar in de loop van de opvoering werd de muziek steeds harder en energieker, net als de dans. De muziekstukken die ze gebruikten waren niet speciaal voor de voorstelling gebruikt. De muziek was ook niet live gespeeld, wat ik zelf erg jammer vind. Ik heb zelf heel veel muziekstijlen gehoord dat van hip-hop tot rock uitliep.

Tekst

Tussen de dansen in zat af en toe wat tekst, echt heel veel tekst was het niet. Vaak was het één van de danseressen die wat tegen het publiek zei, een monoloog dus, maar soms was er ook een dialoog waarin de dansers tegen elkaar spraken, maar dat was maar heel sporadisch. Ze spraken vooral om de dans aan te kondigen, duidelijk te maken of om de tijd tussen 2 dansen op te vullen.

Decor

Er was eigenlijk geen spraken van decor buiten het grote nepijsblok dat boven het toneel hing. Het ijsblok was van papier-maché gemaakt, en af en toe droop er wat water van af. Ze deden het zonder decor om echt de vrouwelijke kracht te benadrukken.

Kostuums

De kleding van de dansers was net als het decor niet overdreven, maar wel effectief. De kleren drukten vrolijkheid uit. Met de kleren die ze gebruikten zou ik niet op straat lopen.

Opbouw

De sfeer is in het begin nog een beetje melancholisch, maar dat veranderd in de loop van de vertoning. Als eerste zijn ze niet tevreden met zichzelf, maar in de loop van de vertoning laten ze de vrouwelijke kracht zien.

Boeiende Werking

Toch vond ik de voorstelling tamelijk saai, het enige wat mij echt boeide en mij raakte was het allerlaatste nummer in de laatste dans.

Conclusie

Ik vond de voorstelling niet erg indrukwekkend en ook tamelijk saai, ook vond ik de opvoering ook wat overdreven soms. De voorstelling was soms ook wat vreemd, ze hadden bijvoorbeeld sex met elkaar terwijl ze hun kleren aan hadden. Ik zou anderen deze voorstelling dus ook niet aanraden.

They want to know who they really are.

A painter wants to show the mood of the person by drawing lighter and darker, and with expressions on the face of the person in the portrait.

A writer wants to show the mood of a person by expressions and thoughts.

Might the answers to these questions be different at any given time?

Yes, because you can be in a different mood at any time of your life. One day you are very happy, next day you are very sad and the next day you can be very mad. When you are in a bad mood, you express yourself as very angry or sad by drawing dark colours. When you are happy, you draw yourself with very light colours.

What do you think Van Gogh is saying to the viewer in this self-portrait?

His face does not really express happiness, but the colours he uses pretty light. This expresses more the feeling of calmness then of sadness.

What do these changes do to the self-portrait and to your ideas about Van Gogh at that point in his life?

At first he expresses a feeling of calmness in his paintings, but in this painting he shows the feeling of sadness.

In which do you think Van Gogh appears calmer?

Van Gogh appears calmer in the painting with the light blue colours. This is because he uses lighter colours then the one with the dark blue colours.

What would you say are two of the most distinctive qualities of a Van Gogh work?

His most distinctive qualities are his use of complementary colours, using a lighter foreground and a darker background, and his rough brushstrokes.

The portrait has two faces.

At first, the painting looks pretty happy and calm, but when you click on it, the painting gets a extra green adjustment, and the face looks worried, sad and a little bit angry.

How do you see Judith Leyster from looking carefully at her self-portrait?

She looks happy and outspoken. She does not really seem rich nor poor, but wants to show off her talent. She does not look shy at all, she looks self-assured, self-confident and proud. She is also very clever, creative, artistic and skilled.

Conclusion

Now I have answered the questions, I hope you have got an idea why artists make self-portraits, that is why I can answer the question: Why do artists make self-portraits? Artists make self-portraits to show other people in what mood they were and how they see themselves. So every time their portraits may differ because every time they are in a different mood, just like you. The one day you are in a mood, another day you are in a different mood.

Window Paintings

Hello,

For arts, we were painting the windows in the classroom of A2.5. I did it together with sven, because we both missed the preparations because we had to go the orthodontist that day. We decided to make a T3A logo above the windows. We had to make some sort of a sticker, and we could than, if it was finished, past it on the window. But it is still not on the window, and it will probably never get there because they want us to remove all the window paintings.

Hello People,

I made this collage for art. I did not really as I wanted it to become, but I think it represents me pretty good. It did not become as I wanted to be because I started way too late. This was a bit my fault, but with a short period of time, I still was satisfied with what I had achieved. I think you can clearely see it represents me because there is a drumkit and some soccer pictures. There are also some camera's, because I like making short movies. I hope you like it.

Hello,

I made several pictures for art. I think it worked out well. I made 2 different pictures.

This is picture 1. I think this one is very nice. I first made the colors a little bit saturated, then made some blocks, changed the sides and finally added a edge and my name.


This is my 2nd picture. I think Audi's R8 are very nice. First I made some slow-motion in the picture with some sort of blur effect, then I added some lines and made some very light blocks and finally I made an edge and put my name on it.

Personally, I like both pictures very much. I think they worked out very good, and I am satisfied. I found it very nice to do it and I hope I will get a nice mark :)

Self-Portraits

Dear Jan Peter,

I am writing you to tell about the paintings we have made in arts class. We made it in Van Gogh style. One happy, and one sad painting. We had about 5 lessons to finish it. It did succeed quite good with some people, but mine didn’t turn out what I wanted it to be. First it looked very nice. But than I had to do the nose, and I failed at that. But I did the best I could.

The first painting is the sad one. I used a sad background. With using red, yellow and black. I used rough brush strokes, and it looks rather good. For the clothing I also used rough brush strokes. In the face I still used rough brush strokes, but less. The clothing is with opposite colours. I did not really succeed in the face. The eyes are too small, and the nose is too big. I also don’t like the colour in the face, its a bit too dark. But I have tried to correct it. But to recorrect it, I did not have enough time.

My second painting is the happy painting, by accident I do not have a photograph of this one. I used rough brush strokes in this one too. For the clothing I also used rough brush strokes. In this face I used very few brush strokes. But at my second one the face looked a bit better, but also my nose was not really nice. I used happy colours in the background. Green, yellow and blue. And in the clothing I use dark colours like red, purple and black. Because I do not have a photograph I can not really tell you into detail what it looks like.

I do not really think this especially represents me, because it does not look like my face. But the picture you can see really represents anger and the clothing really shows the opposite. The colours are really different with the colours of the background. In the other painting the colours of the foreground is used as a background. So I used happy colours in the background, this shows you that it is happy. On the foreground dark colours are used, to show the contrast. The second painting is more like me, because the face looks more like me, but I can not show you because I do not have a picture of it.
